Ray Bradbury (1920-2012) was an American author best known for his science fiction and fantasy works. He was born in Waukegan, Illinois and grew up during the Great Depression, which had a significant impact on his writing. Bradbury was an avid reader from a young age and was particularly drawn to the works of Edgar Allan Poe, Jules Verne, and H.G. Wells.
Bradbury began his writing career as a teenager, selling his first story to a magazine at the age of 18. He went on to write numerous short stories and novels, many of which have become classics of the science fiction genre. His most famous works include Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, and Something Wicked This Way Comes.
Bradbury was known for his vivid imagination and his ability to create richly detailed worlds filled with complex characters and thought-provoking themes. His writing often explored the human condition, examining the impact of technology, media, and societal norms on individual identity and freedom.
